Here’s what you need to know:
Marc Skinner’s side were victorious over Manchester rivals City to gain a place in the FA Cup final while City star suffers injury woe
It was Manchester United who saw off rivals Manchester City to claim a place in the final of the Women’s FA Cup and an opportunity to defend their crown.
Marc Skinner’s side booked their place in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final for the third consecutive year after a 2-0 win over City at the Joie Stadium.
This week has also seen news that United will reportedly set to play in a new seven-a-side tournament in Portugal.
Across Manchester, Mary Fowler was given the diagnosis of a ruptured ACL and is a huge loss for City, scoring eight goals and seven assists in all competitions and one of the club’s top scorers this season.
Another trip to Wembley for United
United made history last year winning the coveted FA Cup for the very first time in their history, and they’re once again heading to London to try and reclaim their crown.
Goals from Celin Bizet and Grace Clinton secured the win after a dominating display against their biggest rivals, with Phallon Tullis-Joyce stepping up for two top quality double saves in the second half to give the side another clean sheet.
It was a second victory away from home to their Manchester rivals this season, with their first victory in the league back in January.
New tournament
United are set to head to Portugal for a new seven-a-side tournament that could see them win £1.9million if they win, reports The Telegraph.
There will be eight teams taking part in the inaugural World Sevens Football tournament, with Bayern Munich also said to be participating alongside United.
The competition is reported to take place after the season ends, and just two months before the EUROs in Switzerland despite concerns over player welfare and the competition falling amid a congested schedule.
Fowler ACL adds to City injury woes
Things went from bad to worse this week for City with Mary Fowler suffering a ruptured ACL, ending her season. The Australia international suffered the injury during the semi-final defeat to Manchester United.
It’s the latest in a series of injury setbacks for the Blues, who were also without Vivianne Miedema and Jill Roord. Roord picked up an injury while representing the Netherlands but could be back for the final weeks of the season.
