Man Utd winger Amad suffered an ankle injury in February and he initially looked to ruled out for the rest of the season.
Ruben Amorim has confirmed Amad could return from injury before the end of the season.
Amad sustained an ankle problem during Manchester United training last month and it was a huge blow to hear Amorim initially suggest he would be ruled out of the remainder of the campaign.
However, just a few weeks later, Amorim revealed that Amad could play again this season. “We’ll see at the end of the last month,” he said after the 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad.
“I don’t want to say anything to you, but I have the hope to have Amad before. We’ll see.”
Amorim has now given a fresh Amad update to club media and said: “He’s doing quite well, we hope to have him before the season is finished. We will see, but he’s anxious to play, so we are waiting for that.”
Amad recently teased his return from his ankle injury on social media, posting a picture of himself alongside a sand timer and smiley face emoji, which was widely considered an encouraging sign.
The 22-year-old was the favourite to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award before picking up his injury in training. He scored the matchwinner against Manchester City in December, the equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield and netted a sensational hat-trick in 10 minutes against Southampton.
Amad has contributed nine goals and eight assists in all competitions and he might return in time to play in the Europa League semi-finals, provided United beat Lyon in the quarter-finals.
The Europa League semi-final first leg will be played on May 1 and the second leg seven days later. Amad could feature in those games if his recovery from injury continues to progress well.
