The family of a ‘a loving husband, father, brother, grandad and friend’ who died after being hit by a bus in Leigh have paid a moving tribute to him.

Pedestrian Brian Norris, 69, was struck by a double-decker bus at the junction of Kirkhall Lane and Atherleigh Way at around 3pm on Monday, March 31.

Emergency services attended and the road was closed for several hours.

The air ambulance was seen landing on the car park of the nearby Asda store and Brian was taken to Salford Royal Hospital.

He was ‘surrounded by his family’, Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

His loved ones have now issued a tribute to him.

Brian’s family said: “Brian was a loving husband, father, brother, grandad and friend. He will be greatly missed and our hearts are broken.

“As a family we would like to thank the doctors and the very caring nurses for the wonderful care and dignity they gave Brian, thank you would never be enough.

“While this is a heart-breaking loss for the family, Brian’s selfless act of organ donation has touched the lives of many.”

Following his death, GMP said officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident to get in touch, so the force could “understand the movements leading up to the collision which has sadly saw an elderly man lose his life”.
