Manchester United have reportedly observed RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal last summer as Mikel Arteta looked to improve his strikeforce. However, after much deliberation before and during the European Championships, Sesko chose to extend his stay in Germany.

At the time, it was widely reported that a gentleman’s agreement was in place between Sesko and his club that would allow him to leave for a greater opportunity from the summer of 2025. According to Bild, that exit could come this summer.

Leipzig could still qualify for the Champions League next season, but the Slovenian is of interest to a number of Premier League clubs including United. It is claimed that sporting director Christopher Vivell has been to watch Sesko with a view to potentially signing him in the summer.

However, the report adds that RB Leipzig could demand as much as £86m for his services in the upcoming transfer window which could be out of their budget. Not long after this report surfaced, another three potential targets were named by Sky Sports News’ Melissa Reddy.

She claims that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha are all on United’s shortlist. Plus, the Reds are hopeful of signing two strikers in the summer to completely overhaul their attack.

All three men would likely be cheaper options than 21-year-old Sesko who has scored 19 goals this season. Osimhen and Cunha are believed to be available for similar figures.

Osimhen and Napoli are desperate to part ways and £63m could be enough to get that deal sorted. Meanwhile, Cunha is understood to have a release clause of £62.5m inserted in his contract.

Delap would be the cheaper option by some way, particularly if Ipswich are relegated as expected. The forward could be available for as little as £30m in the summer having scored 12 goals in the Premier League for the strugglers, should his current club be relegated.

Goals have been a source of concern for United all season with the Reds bagging just 38 goals in 32 Premier League matches. Both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have been criticised for their lack of goals at different stages of the campaign.
