Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling is thought to be in high demand ahead of the summer transfer window opening at the end of the season

Southampton manager Ivan Juric has warned his promising winger Tyler Dibling not to make a transfer for the sake of it amid Manchester United’s reported interest in the forward.

The 19-year-old has been one of Southampton’s few bright sparks this season as they sit rooted to the foot of the Premier League table. Gaining plenty of minutes in the Saints’ first team has gained him admirers from across the Premier League especially thanks to his four goals and three assists.

It is reported that the South Coast club value Dibling at a whopping £100m however their chances of actually receiving that amount seem slim. While he remains under contract until 2027, Dibling is unlikely to want to remain at St Mary’s if the Saints are in the Championship so United, or any other potential suitor, should be able to negotiate a cut price deal for the winger.

Ahead of the summer transfer window opening, Juric was asked by reporters about the future of Dibling beyond this season. The 49-year-old replied by advising the teenager to pick a club where he is going to get playing time.

“I work a lot with the young players, and my vision of the young players is that they have to choose what is best for them,” the Croatian explained. “What is best for them is playing games.

“I had lots of examples where my young players chose the wrong team, and they didn’t play and they started to lose themselves. I think what is best for him, and for everybody, is to choose the team, stay here or choose the team where he can play 30 games, 35 games.”

If he was to pick a move to United in the summer, Dibling would have plenty of competition for playing time. However, there are few teams in the Premier League who give teenagers opportunities to play like the Reds so a switch to Old Trafford may not be a bad call.
