New claims have emerged about Manchester United’s potential transfer plans this summer under Ruben Amorim.

United are expected to begin a rebuild of their squad in the transfer market amid a disappointing campaign. Amorim’s side currently sit 13th in the Premier League table and have struggled badly in attack all season under the Portuguese and his predecessor Erik ten Hag before the Dutchman was sacked in October.

The Reds have scored 37 times after 31 games in the Premier League this term. Current strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have netted just 14 times for United between them across all competitions.

And journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specialised in transfers, has provided an update on whether United will look towards other attacking options as well as a new striker to fix their goalscoring woes.

“It’s a possibility to add at least one more, to play behind the striker,” he said in his latest newsletter for GiveMeSport. “But again, Financial Fair Play and sales will dictate the market and we will understand later on how much they can really spend this summer.”

United have been linked with several strikers this summer, including Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres. Turkish journalist Arda Ozkurt has recently claimed that there have been “official offers” from Old Trafford and Arsenal for Osimhen.

Meanwhile, reports in Correio da Manha claim that Gyokeres has agreed to join Mikel Arteta’s men based on the project presented to him by newly-appointed sporting director Andrea Berta.

The report adds that Berta has played “a decisive role” in the would-be move after deciding to prioritise the 26-year-old.

If true, then it seems extremely unlikely that Arsenal would pursue a move for Osimhen, potentially opening the door for United to seal a deal for the Nigerian.
