Manchester United loanee Antony is enjoying life in Spain as he stars for Real Betis
Real Betis have sent a bold message to Manchester United loanee Antony after another standout display for the La Liga club. The Brazilian is enjoying his temporary spell in Spain and continues to hit the headlines as he stars for Manuel Pelligrini’s side.
Antony doubled the lead away at Girona during a 3-1 win for Betis to send them to within one point of the Champions League places and it was an expert conversion from the 25-year-old.
The forward finished with aplomb after an incisive break from the visitors saw Romain Perraud’s cross find Antony at the back post, who fired home on the volley.
Taking to social media, the official Betis Instagram account were not afraid to make their feelings clear regarding Antony.
They posted a picture of Antony knee-sliding with the caption: “G.O.A.T (Greatest of all time).”
The bold claim comes after a fifth goal for the club, surpassing his tally at United for the past two seasons, and already, the forward has provided more assists in one season than he did in any of his three campaigns at Old Trafford.
And the prospect of Betis making the move a permanent one remains on the table with Pelligrini expressing his desire to keep the former Ajax star in Andalusia.
“Well, we’ll see what happens next season. We have 18 points left, six more games this season, and also the [Europa Conference] Conference semi-final,” he said.
“I see Antony very involved in the team, in the group, in the institution. We would all be happy if he stayed, but now we have to focus on the present, and the present is Valladolid.”
MEN Sport has previously reported that the agreement does not contain an option for Antony’s move to be made permanent this summer.
This means he is due to return to Man United at the end of the six months.
