Armed police were seen in the area

A man was taken to hospital after being slashed with a sword during a ‘dispute’.

Officers were called out to Crossgates Road in Milnrow, Rochdale, at 4.30pm on Thursday afternoon (April 10).

The Manchester Evening News understands two men were involved in the incident, with one being slashed with a sword.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that one man had been taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries were described as serious, but not life-threatening or life-changing.

Another man, aged in his 60s, was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Witnesses reported seeing armed police on Crossgates Road following the incident on Thursday afternoon.

A police helicopter was also seen circling the area, while Crossgates Road was closed for a time following the attack.

A GMP spokesperson said: “We were called shortly before 4.30pm. A man was taken to hospital.

“A man in his 60s has been detained and remains in custody.”
