Manchester City have frozen season ticket and match ticket prices for the first time since the pandemic. The news was announced on Wednesday morning following widespread concerns from supporters.

Last week thousands of Blues decided to protest at the Etihad for the Premier League match with Leicester, staying on the concourse for the opening nine minutes to mark the club’s decision to get a ninth official ticket resale partner in Viagogo. It meant that there were empty seats everywhere in the South Stand as Jack Grealish opened the scoring in the second minute, before the end filled up once the point had been made.

City Matters, the official fan board, finally met with the club on season tickets the following night after nearly two months of a date for it being unavailable. Having taken on board what was said in those discussions, the club have announced that there will be no increase to general season and match tickets.

A statement read: “Manchester City can confirm that general admission season ticket and Premier League match-by-match ticket prices will be frozen for the 2025/26 season.

“This follows the club’s latest consultation meeting with its elected fan engagement programme, City Matters, and reflects the positive and constructive dialogue that has taken place over recent weeks.

“The club would like to thank City Matters representatives for the feedback they provide on a range of topics relating to ticketing, and for sharing a broad range of perspectives from the fans they represent.

“The club and City Matters will continue their ongoing discussions and consultations throughout the coming months around the evolution of the fan experience on matchday in the redeveloped and expanded Etihad Stadium.”

The next big decision for tickets will come when the expanded North Stand opens. That is expected to be in January 2026 for the first test events, providing the construction work runs on time.

City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak spoke of a Blue Wall when he first envisioned the new stand, although supporters have subsequently raised concerns over whether revenue has been prioritised over atmosphere.
