Manchester City and Manchester United were the second and third highest spenders on player agent fees over the period between February 1, 2024 and February 1, 2025.

With all the transactions taken into account on the red and blue halves of Manchester, the Football Association (FA) has confirmed exactly how much both clubs spent on player agent and transaction fees.

City are the second-highest spenders in the English top-flight with a sum of £52.1m. They trail only Chelsea, who spent £60.3m.

There is then a vast jump down to Man United in third with a spend of £33m. Rivals Arsenal are the fifth-highest in the Premier League with £22.7m and Liverpool trail them, having spent £20.8m.

With one winning the Premier League and the other the FA Cup at the end of last season, both Manchester Premier League clubs took different approaches to the summer transfer window. Man City spent only £33.7m on Savinho, whereas Man United splashed the cash once again, roughly £200m, on new players for Erik ten Hag.

As the 2024/25 campaign has gone, neither would have hoped; Ten Hag was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford, and Ruben Amorim was installed in his place. At the polar opposite end of the spectrum, Pep Guardiola was tied down to a new two-year deal as both clubs prepared for January business.

City brought in Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis during the January transfer window. Meanwhile United had to take a stricter approach, only acquiring Patrick Dorgu for a further £25m.

But perhaps most stunning of all business complete in this city was Erling Haaland, who signed an extraordinary new nine-and-a-half-year deal back in January.
