Michael Ormandy has appeared in court
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Rebekah Campbell. The 32-year-old died following an incident a flat in Huyton earlier this week.
Emergency services were called to Knowsley Heights in Liverpool at around 10.30pm on Tuesday (April 15). Officers gave first aid and Ms Campbell was rushed to hospital, where she sadly died having suffered stab wounds.
Michael Ormandy, 34, of Linacre Road, Litherland, was arrested. On Thursday (April 17), Merseyside Police charged him with murder.
Appearing at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (April 19), Mr Ormandy – dressed in grey – confirmed his name, address and date of birth of January 18, 1991, the Liverpool Echo reports.
The charge was read to the 34-year-old before presiding judge Lee McGaw. He was told he is accused of murdering Rebekah Campbell at Knowsley Heights on Tuesday, April 15. He was not asked to enter a plea.
Mr Ormandy was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on April 22 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
On Thursday (April 17), Ms Campbell’s family paid tribute to her, saying: “Rebekah was our everything.
“She was a happy young woman with her whole life ahead of her and had a genuine heart of gold. If it meant putting herself out to help someone, she wouldn’t hesitate.
“We are so proud of her. She was a support for vulnerable people and would use her own experiences to make other lives better.
“We are so grateful for all the messages of condolences, and we didn’t realise how many people’s lives Rebekah had touched, which just reiterates to us how special she was.”
