Update: Leny Yoro reveals the moment he knew Manchester United could launch ‘crazy’ comeback vs Lyon News

Man United pulled off one of the greatest comebacks Old Trafford has ever seen to book their place in the semi-final of the Europa League.

Leny Yoro was “sure” Manchester United could pull off an improbable comeback against Lyon after Bruno Fernandes’ penalty made it 4-3 with six minutes of extra time remaining.

United looked nailed on to book their place in the semi-final of the Europa League after a dominant first half at Old Trafford. Goals from Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Dalot had the Reds in cruise control, but when Alejandro Garnacho spurned an opportunity to put the game to bed early in the second half the momentum started to shift.

Alexandre Lacazette’s introduction gave the visitors a focal point in attack and they suddenly looked far more dangerous. Corentin Tolisso made it 2-1 on the night before Nicolas Tagliafico’s goal sent the game into extra time.

Despite being down to 10 men following Tolisso’s dismissal, Lyon took a 4-2 lead in extra time. And then the madness started.

Fernandes made it 4-3 from the spot before Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire sealed an incredible comeback victory for Ruben Amorim’s side. Yoro praised the impact of the home crowd and explained how Fernandes’ penalty offered the home side the belief they could mount a comeback.

“Honestly, I don’t understand what happened,” Yoro told TNT Sports. “That was crazy, the fans were crazy, they really helped us to do it. I’m really proud of us.

“When you hear the fans, even at 4-2, you know you can do it. When we scored the penalty, I was sure. That was too crazy to go and win this game.

“We need to believe, if you do not believe you cannot win. We gave everything and I’m so glad to win this game. Honestly, this is what the fans deserve. They give everything in every game, whatever the position in the table, they always support us. I want to say thank you to the fans, it’s because of them we won this game.

“Our target is to win the trophy. We are Manchester United, we need to believe. I’m sure we can do it, we will give everything to do it. This game showed everything until the last minute. That was crazy.”
