Quick overview:
De Bruyne was instrumental in City’s comeback win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon
Kevin De Bruyne insists he feels he still has plenty to give elsewhere as he prepares to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.
The Belgium international put in a player of the match display against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon as his goal helped drag City from 2-0 behind to win 5-2 at the Etihad Stadium.
The win lifted City back into the Champions League places and De Bruyne admits it is vital that they are playing in Europe’s premier competition next season.
“I was happy,” De Bruyne told TNT Sports.
“The scoreline did not reflect the way I felt about the first 20 minutes but 10 years isn’t going to change in 20 minutes and I am going to enjoy every moment I have left here.
“I thought the first 20 minutes was actually all right but they pounced on two chances. But the reaction was really good and scoring twice changed the feeling of the game.
“We need to win these games. Perform the way we did today and be aggressive and press forward. Of course we’ve struggled this year but the most important thing is that this club plays Champions League next year and hopefully we can bring that to them.”
De Bruyne announced last week that he will leave City at the end of the season after 10 years at the club.
The 33-year-old is out of contract and will leave the club for free this summer and he has offered a brief update on his future.
“Of course, it’s been a hard year. Having a hernia wasn’t fun but I’m pain free for the last six weeks. I feel free, able to do a lot of training sessions and I feel I can do a good job.
“I don’t know what is going to happen but I want to play on so we will see where I end up.”
