The broadcaster also announced that a new channel is on the way

ITV have announced that one of their popular channels is closing in just two months, in what marks a major change for a number of their programmes

The broadcaster’s main channels are currently its four long-running ITV home channels, as well as ITVBe.

However, it was announced on Wednesday (April 16) that ITVBe will be no longer be available moving forward.

The channel will officially close in June next month, serving as a big blow for viewers who use it to access some of their favourite shows.

Launched in October 2014, the channel has been a home to a number of reality shows previously aired on ITV2.

Among these programmes is The Only Way is Essex, The Real Housewives franchise, Dinner Date and Big Rich Texas.

ITVBe would also broadcast feature films, normally romantic comedies, as well as US comedies such as Jane The Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Available on free-to-air on Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media, the channel also boasted a HD and +1 option.

According to ITV, the channel slot will be replaced with ITV Quiz, which will focus on ITV’s quiz and game shows.

The news arrives just three years after ITVBe received a new look to mark the launch of streaming service ITVX.

ITV2 is one of the broadcaster’s biggest successes, with Love Island bringing in high viewership over the years. The standard version of Big Brother airs on the station, despite Celebirty Big Brother airing on ITV.

A big part of ITV2’s schedule is adult comedies, with Family Guy being a constant fixture in its listings.

It remains to be seen how ITVBe’s content will affect the channel.
