Outgoing Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has refused to rule out the prospect of staying in the Premier League ahead of leaving the Etihad Stadium at the end of this season.

De Bruyne announced just over a week ago that he will be leaving City at the end of this season after a decade at the club.

He joined the Blues from Wolfsburg in August 2015 and has established himself as one of the club’s greatest ever players.

In his first Etihad appearance since announcing his plan to leave the club, the Belgium international helped himself to a goal and an assist on Saturday to help City recover from 2-0 down to beat Crystal Palace 5-2.

He scored City’s first before creating Mateo Kovacic’s goal shortly after half-time that put City 3-2 ahead.

It is yet to become clear where the 33-year-old will write his next chapter, but he has not dismissed the prospect of joining another English club, admitting he is “willing to listen” to whatever opportunities might be on the horizon.

Asked if he would consider joining another Premier League club, De Bruyne told Viaplay: “I don’t know. It could be not.

“It’s very hard because the decision of leaving is not been long so nothing can be decided in a week.

“In the football world I don’t think everything comes in a week. It goes very slowly. I’ve not even seen my family since the announcement.

“Whatever project is available, I’m willing to listen. I love football.

“I love to play football and if a nice projects comes, and my family is good with that then we are able to make a decision.”
