Check if you won an each-way payout and see where the horse you backed finished in the race

The biggest horse race in the sporting calendar has taken place with millions tuning in to watch the Randox Grand National.

A total of 34 horses raced two laps around Aintree Racecourse in the most famous steeplechase in the world. The field was reduced for last year’s race for safety reasons.

This year’s race, which started at 4pm, was won by Nick Rockett was ridden by Patrick. The horse was 25/1 going into the race.

Those who backed the winning horse at the bookies will be celebrating after scooping a payout – as will those who put money on a horse which placed in an each-way bet.

This means if your horse wins at 10/1, and you put £1 on it to win outright, then you get your £10 returns plus your original £1 stake.

If you backed the hose with an each way bet, then you’ll get £10 returns plus your £1 stake. In addition, if the bookies offer 1/5 the odds for a place for example, then you’ll get another £2 plus your £1 stake.

However, if the horse you backed finishes in a place, but does not win, then you will just get the £2 each-way winnings and your original £1 stake back.

The number of places bookmakers pay out, and the odds for a placed finish for the Grand National, will vary. While most tend to pay out for the top five, it is always worth checking with your betting slip.

Here were what some of them were paying out on and the odds as of Friday afternoon:
