The actress shared that Caleb, Ruby and Ross will desperately try and stop Steph from destroying herself

Emmerdale star Georgia Jay admits that Caleb, Ruby and Ross have to “race” to save Steph as she gets close to going “under the knife” and hits “rock bottom”.

Georgia Taylor (Steph) showed up in the village last year with Nicholas Day (Anthony Fox), which turned Ruby’s world upside down as she struggled to accept her estranged father back into her life.

It was then that fans learned why Ruby was struggling so much, as flashbacks showed that Anthony had sexually abused her repeatedly when she was a danger.

The harrowing story didn’t end there, however, as through a DNA test it was revealed that Steph’s biological father wasn’t Caleb, but Anthony.

Anthony was then killed and Ruby, Caleb, Aaron, John, Chas and Cain all tried to keep the truth from Steph, but she soon found the gun in Caleb’s safe and demanded answers.

In recent episodes, Ruby revealed all to her daughter, including that Anthony had fathered her. Struggling to cope with the reality of it all, Steph even looked into plastic surgery as she kept seeing his face whenever she looked at her own.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News and other press, Georgia said: “She’s [Steph] completely bewildered and, you know, doesn’t really know which way is up or down.

“She has intrusive thoughts in the form of imagery. And, she becomes a little bit obsessed with wanting to change her image. And so she’s particularly focused on wanting to have a nose job. This also develops into wanting to have a brow lift as well, so they’re the kind of two things that she’s focused on at the moment.”

In upcoming episodes, Steph lies to Caleb and Ruby telling them that she’s taking a flight to see a friend. Georgia shared: “She had a friend in Capri, who is working out there. So she made up quite a believable story that she was going to visit her, and spend some time with her.”

However, when Caleb and Ruby find out that the flight number she gave them was fake they embark on a desperate mission to track their daughter down.

Fearing that she’ll let slip about the murder in her vulnerable state, they eventually find her with a plastic surgeon. The actress commented: “She’s literally just about to kinda go under the knife kind of thing. And, they stop it at the last minute, and, they interrupt, and stop the surgery from going ahead.”

As Steph runs off from her parents, she later meets up with Ross Barton who she’s currently dating. In her emotional state, she lashes out at him and runs off once again but this time with a bottle of vodka.

Georgia admitted: “She has liberty to make her own choices. And it frustrates her that they are trying to take control of this choice, which she believes is fully hers. So she doesn’t react well at all. And I think it actually does kind of more damage than we would think in the sense that, you know.

“It takes her down an avenue that gets her plotting to perhaps self harm herself. And Ross finds her, of course, having this sort of terrible sort of moment.”

Speaking about Steph taking the alcohol and driving off, Georgia shared: “I’d say this is pretty much the lowest of the low. I think you gotta go rock bottom before you can get up.”
