Emmerdale star Paula Lane has been flooded with messages as she marked a special occasion having ditched the UK weeks after her soap exit aired.

The actress bowed out of the ITV soap last month as Ella Forster. The character first appeared in the village in January 2024 after meeting Mandy Dingle. She landed herself a job and grew close to local doctor Liam Cavanagh.

But in dramatic scenes in the ITV soap, the truth about Ella’s past was uncovered and it was revealed that Ella killed her best friend Joanne when they were children during a state of jealous rage as she had the family life she didn’t.

She battled to make a place for herself in the village. But things started to go wrong following the end of her relationship with Liam, who was really in love with Chas Dingle.

In the end, having been accused of drugging Chas, Ella returned to the Dales for a last confrontation with Liam. Ella begged and pleaded with Liam to listen to her, she told him that Chas had orchestrated all of this to make him hate her, as she said: “She’s trying to destroy me.”

She declared her love for Liam, trying to convince him that they could make it work. Agreeing to listen, he encouraged her to tell the truth as he pretended he would consider getting back together, leading to Ella admitting to swapping Chas’ pills and making her overdose.

When Liam said they had to go and amit the truth, feeling lied to, as she told Liam she didn’t really drug Chas and made it up thinking it would make her love him, she ran from the scene with a knife. Liam gave chase and once in the woods, the pair had an emotional confrontation and as they wrestled, Ella shoved Liam to the ground causing him to hit his head on a rock.

Fortunately, Liam was still alive and the pair had a heart to heart. Moments later, the police arrived to arrest Ella as she told Liam once more that she never drugged Chas.

Now, Paula has updated fans with what she’s up to a revealed she was enjoying some time in Ibiza while celebrating her birthday this week.

The soap star, who also played Kylie Platt in Coronation Street, took to Instagram with some sun-soaked photos from the trip and wrote to her followers: “Hello 39! You feel good #IbizaBirthday.” She was then soon flooded with birthday wishes.

Former Hollyoaks star Sophie Austin said: “Where your meant to be on your birthday! Happy birthday, enjoy and when your back we celebrate.” Former Corrie co-star Catherine Tyldesley commented: “Happy Birthday gorgeous. Big love.”
