Sarah Sugden is currently in the middle of both Jacob and Kammy trying to win her affections

Katie Hill has opened up that it’s a “tricky decision” of who Sarah should choose between love interests Jacob and Kammy.

The Emmerdale actress joined the Dales in in 2017, becoming the fifth actress to be cast in the role of Sarah Sugden.

Sarah was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called Fanconi anaemia. She had to receive a life-saving bone marrow transplant and also a heart transplant which has shortened her potential lifespan.

While Sarah has a long history with Jacob Gallagher, he recently ended things with her after fear of losing another loved one amid the sudden and tragic death of his mum, Leyla Harding.

Her sights were soon set on newcomer Kammy, who has encouraged her more rebellious side as she’s been riding stolen quad bikes, and even getting in trouble with the police.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News and other press about Kammy’s relationship with Sarah, Katie said: “I think they’ve been in a really good place. Sarah knows now that she doesn’t have to impress Kammy anymore after the whole Rodney situation.

“And um, obviously he now knows about her Fanconi Anaemia as well. Plus I think she really appreciates the way he responded to that news, so, yeah, they are in a good place right now.”

In upcoming episodes, Jacob and Kammy will continue to battle for Sarah’s affections as they dare each other to win a dirt bike race. Sarah warns Kammy that if he participates, she’ll dump him.

Katie added: “I think she is quite serious about it because she’s thinking a lot at the moment how she doesn’t really have the time to be messing around with boys who behave in the way Kammy sort of is and doing childish things, like this race. So I think she’s quite serious about it and she just doesn’t want it to go ahead.”

Sarah confides in Vanessa who encourages her to write a list of pros and cons for both boys. Katie continued: “It turns out to be a 50 split between them so it does not help Sarah out at all. As she realises there are both pros and cons with both of them. So they have the same score.”

When asked who she would want to see Sarah with, Katie responded: “Oh it’s such a tricky decision as there are different sides – I think her and Jacob do still have feelings for each other.

“They just haven’t communicated it or found their way to admit it to each other yet. So I think it would be nice to see them explore their relationship back to each other.”

The actress then teased that she’s currently filming some “exciting stuff” for Emmerdale, as she shared: “Every week I just can’t wait to get to work and get on set. Yes it’s some really big stuff and it is so nice as an actress to get my teeth stuck into something so big. I am really excited and grateful that I have been given this work to do.”
