Here’s what you need to know:
Mackenzie called out one of John’s lies, leading to a heated confrontation
Emmerdale fans have been quick to express their concern for one villager who they believe could be next on John Sugden’s “hitlist”.
In recent weeks, viewers have seen John’s true colours slowly start to appear as flashbacks showed him desperately trying to act as the “hero” and prove something to himself and those around him.
So far, we know that he switched Chas’ pills causing her to collapse, he gave Jacob an anaphylactic shock, and accidentally killed Nate Robinson in an attempt to save his life after the barn fire.
Viewers also watched as he nominated himself for an award, as he tries to prove that he’s capable of his job after Liam caught him slacking
During Tuesday’s (April 22) instalment, viewers learned that Aidan Moore – the man lying in the hospital bed – was not just John’s ex-Army friend, but that they were engaged.
After Victoria found out the truth and confronted him, John replied: “He didn’t die, I saved his life… I should’ve let him die…. His mum has to see him in that state, and it’s my fault.
“This man that I loved, so full of life, is now lying there with zero chance of recovery no matter how much blind faith his mum still has. I made the wrong call, I sentenced him to a living death”.
Although he pleaded with his half-sister to not tell Aaron, Victoria said she refused to keep his secret and that if he didn’t tell his fiancé, she would.
On Wednesday’s episode, Mack bumped into Connor who was looking to ask out Victoria after their meeting. He proceeded to fill Mack in with the story of why she contacted him.
Mack asked for any stories of John’s “deepest, darkest secrets” for the wedding speech which lead to Mack finding out about the engagement.
Of course, he headed straight to tell Aaron who in turn expressed his outrage that John had lied to him this whole time. Mack informed him this is “obviously the tip of the iceberg” and he could be hiding a lot more.
As the episode came to an end, Mack told John that he knew about his secret, leaving John flailing to try and think up an excuse, with Mack shouting at him to get in his van and “never come back”.
Now, fans are concerned that Mack could be in danger for getting in the way of his relationship with Aaron. As viewers may remember, a flashback at the start of the year showed Mack running from something or someone. Could it be John?
On X (formerly known as Twitter), @RyanSoapKing25 warned: “Mack needs to be careful though as he could be next on John’s hitlist if he isn’t careful. He doesn’t fully know what John is capable of.”
@clotimms added: “This week’s #Emmerdale has turned me into a real Mack fan but I’m slightly worried about his fate…” as @lornawatts wrote: “Oh no Mack don’t anger John, you’ll be next on his hit list.”
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
