Viewers have long awaited a Vanity reunion in the Dales, and upcoming scenes tease them potentially joining forces once more
Emmerdale fans have insisted that it’s “so happening” as they’re convinced that “Vanity” will reunite in upcoming episodes.
Charity Dingle and Vanessa Woodfield were a beloved couple in the Dales but had a very on-again-off-again relationship. Vanessa originally struggled to trust Charity as she was quite happy to flirt with other people, but they officially got together after she confronted Charity for her behaviour.
In 2020, Vanessa was diagnosed with bowel cancer and although she initially hesitated in telling Charity, she became a great support system as she came to terms with her diagnosis and eventually had a successful operation which removed the tumour and affected lymph nodes.
The pair officially broke up when Vanessa left the village to visit her mother but had to stay for longer to look after her. Tracy decided to send Vanessa a picture of Charity kissing someone else (Mackenzie Boyd), leading her to believe that she was having an affair. Vanessa decided to end the relationship and stay at her mum’s.
When Vanessa eventually returned to Emmerdale, she was shocked to meet Charity’s boyfriend Mackenzie who fans will recognise as her now-husband.
Since then, the characters haven’t had a lot of interaction with each other until after the death of Vanessa’s girlfriend, Suzy Merton.
Suzy was one of the three villagers who tragically died in the aftermath of the Valentine’s limo crash. After her death, Vanessa learned that Suzy planned on breaking up with her as she wanted to pursue things with Mary Goskirk.
With a couple of interactions at the Woolpack after Charity apologised for the crash, and then more recently with Vanessa referencing Charity cheating on her – some fans believe they’re setting up for a reunion.
In upcoming episodes, Emmerdale confirmed that Sarah will confide in Vanessa about wanting to start IVF treatment after she realises that she’s ready to have a baby.
Charity spots the pair mid discussion, and as she approaches them Vanessa tries to encourage Sarah to let her grandma know what her plans are.

“Also, it can’t really be baiting if Emmerdale’s carefully crafted these Vanity moments to deliberately keep their connection alive, ‘cause they’re each other’s true love & they’ve intentionally been positioned as endgame.”
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
