Caleb and Joe are both certain that the other is hiding something

Emmerdale viewers are convinced that Caleb will “regret” confiding in Joe Tate after an awkward family dinner took place.

Caleb and Ruby became worried after Joe Tate found Steph in the woods, as she told him they’re “not even related”. They became determined to see how much Joe knew and to quell his suspicions.

During Tuesday’s (15th April) instalment, Caleb invited Joe round for a family dinner with himself, Ruby and Steph. Joe decided to invite half-brother Noah in order to act as a buffer.

As the dinner took place, Joe questioned about Anthony, leading Steph to freeze on the spot. Later, Caleb followed Joe outside as he took the bins out and fed him a story about why Anthony left.

Not too far from the actual truth, Caleb informed Joe that Anthony was violent and Ruby stayed at someone’s house to get away from him one night, leading to Steph.

Joe apologised for prying into such a personal issue, but as he spoke to Noah after the dinner party it was clear that he wasn’t entirely convinced.

Ned Porteous made his return to the ITV soap in 2024 as Joe Tate made a surprise visit to Home Farm as he was revealed as the puppet master behind Will Taylor’s revenge plan for Kim Tate.

In recent weeks he’s caused havoc in the Dales as he was revealed to have chronic kidney disease. After various visits from Dr Crowley, it was shared that Joe had tried to spike Noah to get his kidney, but he turned out not to be a match.

As he reached the lows of desperation, Joe promised the dodgy doctor that he had a plan as he set his sights on Caleb.

To make sure he’d get it right as he was running out of time, he became Manpreet’s blackmailer. However, Manpreet was none the wiser and instead thinks Joe helped scare her blackmailer off. In return, she offered to help him get a blood sample from Caleb without him realising what it was for.

During a violent scene, Caleb was stabbed and Joe took him to have the operation. Upon waking up, Caleb was told his kidney had to be removed as it was damaged during the incident.

Now, fans are worried that Caleb will “regret” lying to Joe Tate about Anthony as they think Joe will continue to get to the bottom of the truth.

On a Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: “Oh Caleb is going to regret saying that to Joe! Does he really think he’s going to let it slide now?” as another fan replied: “I know, don’t think it’ll look good for Caleb.”

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), some fans weren’t impressed with Caleb’s method as @CHARITYDALES wrote: “that was really evil from caleb honestly… not a fan of that” and @swarlasvanity added: “the abysmal joe tate … if ruby is forced to tell someone else the truth for the millionth time i’ll cry”.
