Mountain rescue teams were called to save a girl who had fallen down a 10ft gully in Stockport on Friday evening (April 11).

Emergency crews, including paramedics, were called to Reddish Vale after reports that a young girl had fallen from a rope swing.

The girl, whose age was not confirmed, was rescued by members of the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team on a stretcher and given pain relief by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

A statement shared by Oldham Mountain Rescue read: “Early on Friday evening the Team were contacted by North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust to assist with the extrication of a young female who had fallen from a rope swing in Reddish Vale.

“Team vehicles were quickly deployed to the incident. The patient was at the bottom of a 10m deep gully in a wooded area.

“After being given pain relief by paramedics, the patient was placed in one of our fully body splints before being loaded onto our stretcher.

“The stretcher was then hauled up the steep bank and carried across the playing fields to the waiting ambulance. 16 Team members were involved for 3 hours.”
