EastEnders star Lacey Turner has candidly recalled ‘uncontrollably sobbing’ after suffering heartbreaking losses.

Lacey, who plays Stacey Turner on the BBC soap, announced the birth of her third child back in January, telling her social media followers that her family’s ‘hearts are full’.

Prior to her little one’s arrival, Lacey and her husband Matt, who she married in 2017, welcomed their daughter, Dusty, in July 2019 and son, Trilby, in February 2021.

Appearing on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, Lacey, 37, opened up about suffering two miscarriages. with the first occurring at age 29.

“We tried for so long and it just didn’t happen and I thought okay, I didn’t realise it was such a small window, you just don’t really think about that.

“And then I started to have miscarriages and that’s when you go… I remember the first one, it was just terrible. I remember laying on the bed and I was just uncontrollably sobbing.

“But I had this weird thing like, ‘Why are you crying? Why are you so sad for something you didn’t know? Something that is barely there.’ I think actually the part of it is the shock of, ‘This is actually happening to me’.”

According to Lacey, one of the tougher parts of having a miscarriage is having ‘awkward conversations’ with the people you’ve told you were pregnant.

“It makes other people feel awkward, because I became quite comfortable with saying, Oh, I’ve had a miscarriage, and then you watch that person go, ‘Oh my God. I don’t know what to say now’,” she said.

Praising Lacey for her honesty, Giovanna said: “It’s so hard, because the only way that we can ever break that down is by just having it out there.

“But if they can hear it, then at some point it becomes that easier thing that’s just out there in society that happens that actually, [people think] let’s, let’s talk about it. So, it’s really hard.”

Lacey added: “If everybody was okay or comfortable with talking about it, like many other things, it would help so many people.”

Previously appearing on BBC Breakfast in 2021, Lacey said that ‘you become a mother the minute you’re pregnant’.

“For that to be taken away, that’s another loss. You grieve the fact that you aren’t going to be a mother, as well as losing a baby. It was a loss at seven weeks…

“I was 29, I think, and we were pregnant and I was so excited thinking of names and things like that. I just remember sitting on my bed in a ball, sobbing. At the time, I remember thinking, ‘Why me? Why is this only happening to me?’ I did feel so alone because nobody knew.
