The father of a brewery and security firm owner has called for his son’s body to be exhumed and returned to the UK after he died in Morocco. Allen McKenna, 47, died on February 22 while visiting the country with his Moroccan wife, and now his family wants him to be returned and his death investigated.

Allen was born in Harrogate and moved to Australia before returning to Yorkshire. He and his wife Majda Mjaoual had been married for seven years under Islamic law after meeting in central London when Allen was working as a security guard and she was working as a waitress.

Since then, Allen had gone on to establish a successful micobrewery and security business, and the pair had moved to Harrogate. They had been visiting Majda’s home country of Morocco when Allen tragically died, YorkshireLive reports.

Allen was buried in a cemetery in Casablanca within 48 hours of his death, with Islamic custom saying that where possible someone should be buried within 24 hours of their death.

But Allen’s father Alan Moorhead, who was told about his son’s death on a call with Majda, has said that he wants his son to be exhumed and returned to the UK so that an investigation can be carried out into his death.

Alan, 77, told MailOnline: “I could see Allen on the bed, he looked as if he were sleeping, he was fully clothed. I said, ‘take the phone over to let me see him’ and then her brother walked in and said ‘Don’t worry we will bury him on Monday’.

“It’s ridiculous, she hasn’t told any of my family at all, where my son is buried, we just don’t know where he is so how can we pay our last respects.”

He added: “I just want my lad here with us in Australia or back in Yorkshire where he was born, he shouldn’t be where he is, it’s just not right. He deserves to be somewhere that his family can visit him, not in a cemetery in Casablanca.

“There are just too many questions that need answering and Majda isn’t helping at all. I want the authorities to exhume him and look into the circumstances of how he died, we haven’t been told anything, and we haven’t got any paperwork we don’t even know where exactly he’s buried.”

Alan continues to dispute his daughter-in-law’s version of events saying: “The whole thing stinks and the family and I want some answers we want the truth. What really happened?

“He had a Harley [Davidson motorbike], he had an Audi TT and he had a helicopter, where is all that now? What about the business he had? The brewery and the security firm? I’ve heard she’s taken it all over without consulting any of us. Everyone who knew my son adored him he was a lovely man, very well educated and very successful businessman.

Majda, who has over 24,000 followers on Instagram and 48,000 on TikTok, has since spoken out about her husband’s death.

She told The Sun: “He couldn’t breathe and I was assuming he was dying at [that] moment.”

“Then we called the ambulance, the doctor…they couldn’t take him because he was a foreign national…the first doctor came and announced him dead.”

Majda has also rejected claims that she is trying to take things owned by her late husband.

She said: “There’s nothing for me to take, I’m not protected in any sort of way, yes we are married in my religion but that’s not recognised in the UK. I’ll probably walk out with nothing”.

North Yorkshire Police, Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Interpol are also said to be investigating the brewery boss’ death.

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Morocco and are in contact with the local authorities.”
