The Manchester United and Portugal legend has joined forces with British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn as the pair prepare to launch a new film studio together

Cristiano Ronaldo has dived into an exciting new venture by partnering with British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn to produce a trilogy of action films.

Vaughn, the acclaimed director, has praised the the former Manchester United superstar as “a real life superhero”, while Ronaldo calls this move an “exciting new chapter”.

A post from Ronaldo’s social media outlined the collaboration: “Cristiano Ronaldo loves movies; Matthew Vaughn loves sport – and they both love a good story. Both have been disruptive champions at their game and will now combine the world of sport and storytelling through the launch of UR MARV, an independent joint venture film studio embracing innovative technology, with a nod to tradition.

Speaking about the new venture, as cited by the Daily Record, Ronaldo said: “This is an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures in business.”

Film-maker Vaughn added: “Cristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written, and I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him – he’s a real-life superhero.”

According to the announcement, the duo, through their UR MARV project, have already financed and produced two action flicks and are on the brink of commencing a third. Fans and film enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting news of the first release’s premiere date.

Ronaldo is no stranger to the limelight, having been the focus of a 2015 biopic produced by the same team behind films on pop icon Amy Winehouse and F1 legend Ayrton Senna.

In 2014, a Spanish documentary titled ‘Cristiano Ronaldo: The World at His Feet’ was released, with narration provided by Benedict Cumberbatch. However, this will mark his first foray into the realm of fiction.

Vaughn, on the other hand, has an impressive filmography as the director and producer of hit films such as the Daniel Craig starrer ‘Layer Cake’, ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’, and ‘Argylle’, which boasted a star-studded cast including Dua Lipa, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson.
