There’s drama to come in the ITV soap next week for Lauren as she’s pulled into Betsy’s revenge
It’s been revealed that Lauren Bolton will get a blast from the past in Coronation Street next week as her friendship with Betsy Swain blossoms – with disastourous consequences.
Actress Cait Fitton made her Corrie debut in the role of the wayward character in late 2022. Then, months after being involved in Max Turner’s far-right storyline, she was thrown in turmoil as her alter-ego was abused by solicitor Joel Deering.
Lauren has since faced further turmoil, with her son, Frankie, being born early before later being given the devastating diagnosis of aplastic anaemia, all while she was charged with the murder of Joel before being cleared by a jury.
Lauren has since lost boyfriend Max after he was imprisoned for arson, having purposely set fire to No.8 Coronation Street, the home he shared with the Platt family, in a botched insurance job to help his dad, David, with the money he owed to gangster Harvey Gaskell.
She’s now found herself alone on the Street without many for support and in new spoilers for next week’s Corrie, it’s been revealed that Lauren will soon be reminded of her past.
At the hospital, the doctor tells Lauren that Frankie’s doing well and it won’t be long before he can be discharged. When a nurse approaches with a parcel for Frankie, Lauren clocks the prison stamp and is left shaken. Soon after, Lauren visits her dad, Reece, in prison. How will it go?
Later in the week, Lauren finds an ally in Betsy. In the café, Betsy rails at Tracy Barlow and then Carla Connor for endangering her life. The teen’s mum DS Lisa tries to calm her down but Betsy storms out.
Lauren finds Betsy destroying the contents of the florist van, as she tries to stop her Tracy approaches and in a panic Lauren sets off with Betsy in the Van In the precinct, Lauren and Betsy survey the smashed up van and as a panicky Lauren admits that she’s never passed her test, a police car pulls up nearby. Can the girls talk their way out of this one?
Speaking about Betsy getting revenge on Tracy, actress Sydney Martin said: “I think it gets a bit out of hand. She wants to do something that is kind of harmless. She’s seen Tracy in the morning and she’s pushes her over the edge.
“So Betsy turns up at Preston’s Petals and she sees that Tracy’s there with the van and everything’s open, so she just thinks she’ll destroy a few flowers, pop a few balloons and annoy her back.
“It’s a very harmless prank, but she finds herself in a situation where she goes a little too far. She’s in the front of the van, and Roy comes along and says ‘what are you doing? You’re being stupid, calm down’. And then Tracy comes out and Betsy didn’t expect to see her, so she panics and calls Lauren in – who wants nothing to do with it, but has just found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Teasing how they may get out of the van crash, the soap newcomer added: “I think with Betsy and Lauren’s relationship, obviously there was all the Joel stuff where Betsy was involved with the pills that ended up being given to Lauren.
“So I think Betsy feels sorry for Lauren and she feels she owes Lauren something. Now she’s dragged Lauren into this situation, so she’ll try her best not to get Lauren involved. But who knows? Lauren’s still done it, she’s still done the crime.”
