Actress Charlotte Jordan has shared her thoughts on the on-off couple as Daisy will officially say farewell in upcoming scene
Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan has said ‘we’ll all be mourning’ as Daisy Midgeley and Daniel Osbourne’s on-off relationship will seemingly come to an end in upcoming scenes.
Daisy will officially say farewell to the cobbles in upcoming scenes. It was back in 2020 that actress Charlotte made her debut in the ITV soap as Daisy Midgeley.
Fans learned that the character was the former step-daughter of pub landlady Jenny Connor, who she had helped raise as a teen. Estranged from her mum, Daisy came to stay at the pub, reuniting with Jenny some years after they last saw each other.
The pair were said to be close, but when Jenny’s son Tom died and her marriage broke down, she left that life behind. Following her arrival in Weatherfield, Daisy quickly ruffled feathers by encouraging Jenny’s separation from her then husband Johnny Connor and later engineering Ryan Connor and Alya Nazir’s split.
Daisy went on to find love with Daniel Osbourne and despite it having been a rocky romance, viewers were hoping to see them exchanging vows. But disaster later struck.
In horrifying scenes, the bride-to-be was stalked by Justin Rutherford, which culminated in Daisy and Ryan being the victims of an acid attack on Daisy and Daniel’s wedding day.
Daisy and Daniel’s relationship later came to an end when he realised she had been seen Ryan behind her back, as the two victims became bonded by their shared trauma.
Daisy tried to give things a go with Ryan, while Daniel soon fell back into the arms of Bethany Platt as she returned to Weatherfield from London.
But it was clear Daisy wasn’t into Ryan as much as he was her and soon, as Daisy admitted her real feelings for Daniel, Ryan called it a day. However, with Daniel seemingly loved-up with Bethany, and planning their wedding, Daisy sought desire in DC Kit Green.
She then recently found herself in the middle of a ‘who’s the daddy’ storyline after discovering she was pregnant, having secretly slept with Daniel. With the latter led to believe he was the dad, it soon emerged Kit was the real father, only for Daisy to tragically lose her unborn child in a hit-and-run.
It was then in January that Charlotte confirmed she will be bowing out of the ITV soap after four years in the role of Daisy. Now, Corrie has revealed the first look as Daisy’s exit looms in a dramatic and emotionally charged storyline.
After a recent whirlwind of drama, Daisy is ready to embark on a new chapter at the other side of the world, leaving a void in the heart of Weatherfield and devastation in her wake.
Viewers of the ITV soap can expect highly emotional scenes as Jenny desperately pleads with Daisy to reconsider her decision. Additionally, a heartfelt conversation with Daniel will play a crucial role in her final moments on the street leaving viewers hoping that Daniel’s plea can sway Daisy’s decision.
Speaking about Daisy’s feelings for Daniel and whether she’ll always love him, Charlotte admitted: “Of course she will. I think they’ll both be each other’s “what if” love story. I think we’ll all be mourning what could have been.
“I think she also knows, deep down, that if Daniel were fully aware of what she’s about to do to Jenny, he wouldn’t be willing to let it slide and continue to stand by her side. So it’s almost like she’s cutting him loose before she can see how disappointed in her he’ll be.”
And it was with Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel, that Charlotte had her last scenes with – and it was emotional. “I’m not a big crier, but let me tell you, I cried on and off for about four hours straight,” the soap star admitted.
“My last scene was with the beautiful Rob Mallard, and we were meant to cry in the scene – but we were both dry as a bone. As soon as they yelled our final ‘cut’, we both burst into tears. Typical.”
She added: “The Corrie gang made it so special for me. The canteen made me my favourite lunch – which made me cry. The art department drew me a beautiful card – which made me cry.
“I would look over to Channique [Sterling-Brown] or Julia [Goulding] or Sal [Sally Ann Matthews] during our last lunch break and see them crying – which made me cry. I think I was medically dehydrated by the end of the day.”
