Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has issued a response after being quizzed on the disappearance of her on-screen husband – and teased their big storyline is on the way.

The actress, who is best known for playing Maria Windass in the ITV soap, took part in a social media question and answer session while on a break from filming at the Trafford-based set.

She was quickly quizzed on all things Corrie and one followers was keen to know the whereabouts of her co-star Mikey North, who plays husband Gary Windass.

But recently, viewers of the long-running show have been flocking to social media to question Gary’s lack of appearances on the cobbles.

@camjmes0 said: “Thinking about how Gary Windass has only been in one episode of #Corrie this year and that was in January?” @Scooter_Animal replied: “The mystery disappearance of Gary and The Kabin continues…

@oxley8150 commented: “Has got a little weird, his absence.” @hewittchrisd asked: “Where is Gary Windass? Really need his storyline in #Corrie #Coronationstreet.” @darrennpassey added: “I was saying the same, he has become so underused lately, hope he is back on screen soon.”

Now, Samia has also been asked directly about when she’ll be seen back alongside Mikey on-screen.

In the Instagram Q&A on Wednesday (April 23), she was asked: “Your on-screen husband hasn’t been seen in a while, when will he be making an appearance?”

In a video response, Samia said: “Gary will be making an appearance very, very soon. I think our storyline stars this week so keep your eyes peeled. It’s a big one…”

It comes after new spoilers this week revealed that next week in the café, Gary tells Maria that business is slow at the shop and he’s thinking of selling up and buying the builder’s yard but Maria’s adamant that they can’t afford it.

In the Bistro, Gary confides in Mick Michaelis how he’d like to buy the builder’s yard but Maria’s not keen.

Mick reckons he should go ahead as what’s best for him is best for Maria too. Maria finds Gary and Mick enjoying a celebratory drink in the Bistro.

Later, an excited Gary assures Maria he’s going to make a success of the builder’s yard.

But Maria warns him that it was a mistake to offer Mick a job and tells Mick he’s not welcome.
