Quick overview:
The fan favourite soap actor will be locked away for up to three weeks
Coronation Street star Jack P Shepard made a Celebrity Big Brother ‘guarantee’ moments before he entered the house on live TV.
The 37-year-old is known for playing David Platt on the ITV soap, a role which has seen him win Best Actor at the British Soap Awards.
After months of rumours that he would be joining the reality TV show, Jack was the seventh star to enter the house.
Speaking in his opening video package, Jack noted that during his time on the show he has ‘buried a body’ and witnessed his onscreen wife’s death.
Receiving one of the loudest cheers of the night, Jack looked delighted with the reception he received by the crowd gathered outside the house.
Speaking to presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best, Jack didn’t give himself much of a shot of winning the programme.
“I almost guarantee I’ll be up for eviction the first week,” he said.
Those watching at home couldn’t disagree more as they backed Jack to go all the way and succeed David Potts in winning the series!
@jozefd14 said: “Already rooting for Jack P Shepherd! #corrie #CBB #CBBUK.” @AAngels05 added: “I think we all know Jack P Shepherd will probably get to the final, kinda looking forward to JoJo teaching him the routine to ‘Karma’ tho.”
@karrrrenThe wrote: “If Jack P. Shepherd is only half as sarcastic and funny as David Platt we are in for a treat!!” @swarlaera posted: “I fear jojo is gonna miss out on a lot of the context of how important ppl are to the public and just who they are cuz girlie won’t know that jack is national legend #cbbuk.”
@MarkBinmore joked: “Patsy Palmer eyeing Jack P Shepherd entering the house knowing they’re both nominated for the same comedy soap award #CBBUK.”
Once he entered the house, Jack was greeted by former Conservative MP Sir Michael Fabricant, who was challenged to give him a high five and say ‘groovy baby’.
Michael didn’t receive as warm a welcome entering the house, with the audience erupting into a chorus of boos.
Speaking in his video package, he said: “I’m Michael Fabricant, I used to be an MP until I got booted out at the last general election.
“I was a member of the Conservative Party, some of my colleagues couldn’t actually make me out because although I was a Conservative. I was very socially liberal.
“People do speculate about my sexuality, I think many people think I’m gay, I’m not, actually, I’m bi, and I think also I was the very first Member of Parliament to admit that he is.”
He added: “My hair has become a bit of a hot topic with some people, I think it’s because they wonder whether it’s my own.
“Well, it is my own. I can show you the receipts that cost a fortune. I think the most annoying thing of the Big Brother house is probably going to be me.”
