Coronation Street star Colson Smith has shared why he thinks Jack P Shepherd is being nominated by his fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemates as he faced another eviction.

The actor hasn’t had much luck in the famous house so far as he was seen surviving being nominated for the second eviction of the reality series on Tuesday night (April 15) after surviving the first public vote last week.

Jack found himself in the firing line once again by his fellow housemates as they chose him to face the second public vote alongside EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer, who received the most nominations, and TV presenter Trisha Goddard.

The second live eviction eventually saw Trisha given her marching orders, with the veteran broadcaster admitting she was “a bit sad” to be going, but reflected positively on her experience, which comes as she’s receiving palliative care following a secondary breast cancer diagnosis.

The support, meanwhile, has been clear for Jack, who is famed for playing David Platt in ITV’s Corrie, with many of his CBB and Corrie co-stars speaking out in his defence

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News and other press, Colson, who co-hosts the On the Sofa podcast with Jack and co-starred in Corrie with him as Craig Tinker until recently, gave his thoughts on how Jack is going on and seemingly shared his reasoning behind his pal’s nominations.

“He’s being completely himself,” the 26-year-old, who finished in third place in last year’s CBB, said. “The reasons for nominations are people are just nominating him because he’s Jack, sort of thing and I think he’s doing really well.

“I think he’s having fun. We’re seeing sides of Jack who is excitable and playful but I think he’s doing really, really well. I would love him not to be up for eviction this time round and I feel like the dynamic in the house slightly change and we might see people vote for different people. I also have a sneaky feeling it’ll be face-to-face nominations which is different.”

Colson went on: “But Jack is the person that is so un-phased, he’s an easy nomination at the moment. But I think he’s doing really well, I’m loving watching him. I hope he’s ok, I think he’s ok. I’m telling myself he is.”

He added: “I want to see more of him. But everything we see of him, I’m liking and I think the people at home are liking too. I mean, everyone’s backing him. aren’t they?”
