Coronation Street fans made the same plea as they want iconic couple Sally Metcalfe and Kevin Webster to rekindle their former flame.

It’s been an emotional week in Weatherfield as Debbie Webster was referred to have medical tests done as she was told she could have early on-set vascular dementia.

During recent episodes, viewers have seen glimpses of Debbie forgetting things here and there, and in a more serious scene she blacked out and fell on the cobbles with no recollection of what happened.

In an emotional scene, Debbie broke down in tears as she sobbed to the Doctor, telling him that her family needs her as she’s the glue that holds everyone together.

Her brother, Kevin Webster, was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year which meant he had to undergo a serious procedure to have the testicle removed.

Since then, he’s been having regular chemotherapy sessions as part of his recovery. Viewers watched as Kevin has struggled to come to terms with his diagnosis and pushed everyone away, including his best friend Tyrone Dobbs, son Jack, and wife Abi Webster.

Abi has recently been battling her own demons as she was diagnosed with PTSD from the brutal death of her eldest son, Seb. He was murdered during a hate crime assault on both him and his girlfriend Nina Lucas.

She started hallucinating Seb in front of her, looking exactly how he did on the night he died. The visions escalated after she tried to save Mason Radcliffe amid the stabbing that led to his death.

Now, some fans have made a plea that former couple Sally and Kevin rekindle their romance during Kevin’s recovery. The couple first met in 1986 when Kevin accidentally splashed Sally with a puddle when driving past her in his van.

They married in 1999 but divorced after Kevin had an affair with Natalie Horrocks. Sally and Kevin eventually decided to get back together in 2002 for the sake of their two daughters, Sophie and Rosie.

However, their second marriage also faced various obstacles, with Sally’s breast cancer diagnosis and Kevin’s affair with Tyrone’s wife Molly which led to him fathering her son, Jack.

The pair divorced for the final time, leading Sally to fall in love and marry Tim Metcalfe and Kevin eventually settling down with Abi.

With Sally being a great support system for Kevin during this time, on a Reddit thread u/Produce_North requested: “Can they just put Sally and Kevin back together? They are one of those Corrie couples like Stan and Hilda or Jack and Vera that should’ve always been together no matter what.

“I always found it a bit odd that they’d both played away several times and always reunited but it was Kevin’s affair with Molly that ended it all. They could’ve raised Jack together. Tim’s okay. I think they only married Sally off to him so he could counteract her social climbing. Kevin and moping Abi are certainly not a match in my eyes.”

People seem to love Sally and Tim.” as u/Ok-Voice4104 added: “I really miss them, but unless Tim gets killed off, I can’t see them ever breaking him and Sally up. Seems the writers love them a lot, as they’re a great comedic pairing and they’ve been together now for almost 12 years, which is longer than Sally and Kevin now.”
