Coronation Street star Jane Hazlegrove has been shown love by the show after sharing a gushing public messages about being part of the “massive machine”.

The actress is best known for playing Bernie Winter in the ITV soap, with the character having arrived in Weatherfield back in 2019. At the time, the character was described as an ‘old raver who still sees herself as a free spirit’.

But during her time on the cobbles, she has proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with as the straight-talking mum of Gemma Winter and the late Paul Foreman.

More recently, viewers have seen a softer side to Bernie after she discovered her son had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease before his tragic death 17 months later, found her long-lost son Kit Green and even found love with plans to marry Dev Alahan after accepting his proposal.

But playing Bernie was also not Jane’s first stint in Corrie. She actually played Sue Clayton in Corrie back in 1985, the youngest daughter of Harry and Connie Clayton.

Back in November, Jane reflected on her first time on the cobbles and alongside a picture of her as the schoolgirl alongside actress Caroline O’Neil, she said; “Sweet sixteen.. Coronation Street in 1985, Sue Clayton and her big sister Andrea played by the brilliant Caroline O’Neil.”

She added: “Cheers Corrie.., bought my driving lessons with this gig! @coronationstreet,” and Corrie co-star Sally Dynevor was quick to respond as she revealed: “Remember it well.”

Now, Jane has shared a gushing message about the team behind the popular soap, having been included a sweet video to mark the recent Easter festivities.

A member of the Corrie team was seen headed around the ITV studios handing out mini chocolate eggs and bumped into a number of people from both in front and behind the camera along the way, including Jane and her on-screen son Jacob Roberts.

The post, shared on Sunday (April 20) was captioned: “Happy Easter! We hope you’re having chocolate for breakfast #Corrie.” Jane was quick to respond: “Happy Easter to every single person who works so hard on Corrie not just the ones in front of the camera but to all the grafters who feed us.. clothe us.. make us up.. get us to the floor on time.. light us.. film us.. record us.. the brilliant crew in the office!!”

She added: “We are all a tiny part of a massive machine!!! Very proud to be part of this collective! @coronationstreet.” And Corrie’s social media team were keen to show support back and replied: “We love you Jane.”
