The ITV soap has confirmed the return of one of Weatherfield newer villian’s after the actor who plays him teased his own comeback

Coronation Street has officially confirmed the return of one of the show’s more recent villains after the actor who plays him teased his own comeback earlier this year.

Back in January, Scott Anson reveal that he would be making a return to the ITV soap as Lauren Bolton’s father Reece in upcoming scenes.

Fans will recall that Lauren, played by Cait Fitton, followed her dad, Reece Bolton, onto the cobbles alongside the far-right gang led by Griff Reynolds, who groomed Max Turner.

Reece exploited his own daughter Lauren to help the group’s cause, introducing her to Max before the pair struck up a relationship. After causing havoc on the street, in January 2023, the gang finally attempted to use the bomb against the community but Max and Lauren saw sense and were able to alert people to the danger.

Soon, Reece was arrested for his crimes alongside Griff, and Lauren went to stay with her mother in Devon before she returned to Weatherfield.

She was taken under the wing of Roy Cropper but soon got mixed up with solicitor Joel Deering, who groomed her before leaving her for dead in a violent attack.

Reece has been seen from behind bars, with Max paying him a visit while Lauren was charged with the murder of Joel, before later being cleared by a jury.

Lauren has since lost boyfriend Max after he was imprisoned for arson, having purposely set fire to No.8 Coronation Street, the home he shared with the Platt family, in a botched insurance job to help his dad, David, with the money he owed to gangster Harvey Gaskell.

She’s now found herself alone on the Street without many for support and in new spoilers for next week’s Corrie, it’s been revealed that Lauren will soon be reminded of her past.

At the hospital, the doctor tells Lauren that Frankie’s doing well and it won’t be long before he can be discharged. When a nurse approaches with a parcel for Frankie, Lauren clocks the prison stamp and is left shaken.

Soon after, Lauren visits her dad, Reece, in prison. She doesn’t seem too impressed but what does her dad really want?

It comes after Scott took to Instagram and his X – formerly known as Twitter – account at the end of January and shared a picture of a Coronation Street script that he’d been sent through the post. He revealed in the caption of the post: “Bad boy Reece is back.”
