Shoppers could try the Fogarty Temperature Balance 4.5 Tog Summer Duvet, for example, which is priced between £32 and £46 at Dunelm and also comes for bed sizes single to super king size. M&S also has a Comfortably Cool 3 Tog Duvet on their site which ranges between £30 and £55, comes in sizes single and super king size and is made in a 3 tog weight for light coverage.

However, shoppers have given the £18 Slumberdown Summer Cool 4.5 Tog Duvet a 4.8 out of 5 star rating from a total of 2159 reviews on Argos’ site. One customer said: “I do get overheated at night and prefer the summer cool weight of the duvet so I can add a throw in the colder months if needed. Washes very well and keeps its bounce. Nice that it is a proper material cover and not the mesh type that disintegrates in no time. Would definitely recommend it.”

A second shopper said: “Lovely and soft and super light for the summer months.”

“Good quality item, soft and doesn’t move around in the quilt cover. I’d recommend it if you like to be cooler in the evening,” said a third buyer.

Some, however, weren’t totally impressed, as one customer said: “This is an ok duvet – does the job, nothing special. Its cover feels quite synthetic – almost plastic – so if you’re a hot sleeper you will need a cotton / cooling fabric duvet cover to make it feel cooler.”
