Man Utd suffered another Premier League defeat against Wolves and Christian Eriksen spoke after the game.
Christian Eriksen praised Manchester United youngsters Tyler Fredricson and Harry Amass for their performances against Wolves.
United were still coming down from the high of beating Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals when they welcomed Wolves to a sun-kissed Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Ruben Amorim made five changes and handed a first-team debut to Fredricson. Amass was given his second start for the club and Kobbie Mainoo was recalled to the starting XI.
United began to create chances at the end of the first half and Rasmus Hojlund came inches away from scoring in the 65th minute. But they couldn’t find a breakthrough and Wolves took advantage when Pablo Sarabia scored a stunning free-kick with just 10 minutes remaining.
“It is football in a nutshell, sometimes you have a good game but don’t score many goals,” Eriksen told MUTV.
“Obviously you always have a chance to take the lead and the win, and unfortunately they did that today. I think it was pretty easy to get over it [the Lyon win]. We change a lot of the team from Thursday.
“We had our chances today, no matter whether we played Thursday or not, and had enough energy to win. In the end, it was just small details and we weren’t good enough in the last end.”
Eriksen praised Fredricson and Amass, saying: “I’m happy for both of them. Obviously Harry has played a few games, but Tyler was making his debut today. He’s trained with us a few times and performed today. He’s a bright kid. They’re both really working hard and earning their chance in the team.
“And I think they can both be very proud of what they’ve achieved today. I think they both looked very comfortable and playing with them was good fun. I hope they enjoyed it and keep the memory, apart from the loss. But for their own development, they should be very proud.”
Chido Obi was also introduced to the second half of the game, coming on for Hojlund.
United suffered a 15th league defeat of the season against Wolves and are guaranteed to record their lowest Premier League points total after a truly miserable top-flight campaign.
