The Celebrity Traitors is reported to have ‘signed up’ a beloved UK comedian and a Welsh singer for debut season of the BBC phenomenon.

Presented by Claudia Winkleman, the series is set in a castle in the Scottish Highlands and the sees contestants appointed traitors and faithfuls.

With the faithful having no idea who the traitors are, a vote is held at the end of each episode to vote off the person they are most suspicious of.

No player is safe from being eliminated, unless they have a shield, with the traitors ‘murdering’ a contestant each night, or in some cases even attempting to recruit a faithful.

Back in January, the third season of The Traitors produced some new household names, including Alexander Dragonetti, Linda Rands and Francesca Rowan-Plowden.

With the second season won by Traitor Harry Clark in a stunning finale, season three saw faithfuls Jake Brown and Leanne Quigley split the final prize fund of £94,600.

The BBC previously confirmed that the Celebrity Traitors will premiere in the autumn, this time seeing famous faces battling it out.

And now, according to The Mirror, Charlotte Church and Bob Mortimer are ready to compete on the beloved programme.

On top of this, the outlet is reporting that presenter Alan Carr, talk show host Jonathan Ross, rugby player Joe Marler and Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway are all taking part.

A source said: “There will be a huge mix of personalities – and ego sizes. Seeing how it all works out is going to be fascinating.

“The team making the show are expecting it to be quite different to the regular version because the celebrities will be less motivated by the prize fund but care far more about how they come across.

“It will be really interesting to see how the gameplay compares, along with which tactics they employ. Hopefully one thing that will remain the same is that it will be a lot of fun to watch.”

Selling over 10 million records around the world, Charlotte is one of the UK’s most successful singers of recent years.

While Bob is no stranger to reality TV, having appeared last month on Amazon Prime Video’s Last One Laughing to the delight of his fans.

Also tipped to appear on the Celebrity Traitors is BBC presenter Clare Balding, ITV political talk show host Robert Peston, and comedian and actor Sir Stephen Fry.

Previously describing the show, a BBC spokeswoman said: “The Traitors is a game that includes lies and deception, thus it would be foolhardy for any faithful to speculate before the game has begun.”

International versions of the game have already had celebrities taking part, with the US focusing solely on stars from all walks of life.

Presented by Scottish actor Alan Cumming, the Traitors US has featured Sam Asghari, the estranged husband of Britney Spears, former House of Commons speaker John Bercow and 2022 Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu among the contestants.
