Celebrity Big Brother fans were left stunned on Friday night (April 11) as Michael Fabricant became the first star evicted from the ITV programme.

Fans had the power to choose who they wanted to save between the former MP, former Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke and Coronation Street legend Jack P Shepherd.

Despite Mickey being given a formal warning earlier in the week and Jack not having much screen-time, it was Michael who was kicked off the programme.

Those watching at home were taken back by the result, with many fans taking to Twitter, previously known as X, to have their say on the matter.

@L_Hazex said: “Every single person who voted Michael to be evicted, you should be ashamed of yourselves #cbb #CBBUK.” @MatthewRimmer added: “Yeah, with Vote To Save, it was always going to be Michael going. #CBBUK #CelebrityBigBrother.”

@DannyWxo wrote: “Everybody cheered but should have been Mickey.”@ExquisiteAlts stated: “I don’t think he deserved to be evicted first. He brought good vibes to the house imo!”

@LauraGarside commented: “On launch night I thought Michael would be the first out and I was happy with that. But I’m gutted he has gone. He was so entertaining and fully embraced the experience #CBBUK.” @LisaDock84 posted: “Aww i feel bad for Micheal he seems like a lovely guy but i also do think Micky needs more time in the house #CBBUK.”

Michael lost his seat in Parliament at the last general election and was booed when he was first introduced to the Big Brother house.

One of the most talked about moments when he was in the house arrived when he nominated EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer for eviction after she asked if he ‘was wearing a wig’.

“I’m going to nominate Patsy. She asked me something about ‘why do I wear a wig?’ And I’m not saying it is a wig actually. But what I am saying is that I found it slightly awkward being asked about it.

“I just don’t like my hair being raised. People have sensitivities and that’s my sensitivity. We’re all human – I’m more human than most.”

He continued: “My hair has become a bit of a hot topic with some people, I think it’s because they wonder whether it’s my own.

“Well, it is my own. I can show you the receipts that cost a fortune. I think the most annoying thing of the Big Brother house is probably going to be me.”

In his opening video package, Michael admitted that ‘people speculate’ about his sexuality as a result of being in the public eye.

“I think many people think I’m gay, I’m not, actually, I’m bi, and I think also I was the very first Member of Parliament to admit that he is.”
