The Love Island star defended JoJo Siwa on Wednesday night

Celebrity Big Brother fans have branded Chris Hughes ‘a good human’ after Mickey Rourke’s controversial comments on Wednesday night (April 9).

The former Love Island star and TV presenter was at the centre of a dispute between Oscar nominee Mickey and pop singer JoJo Siwa.

Tension grew on the third episode of the ITV reality show, when Mickey asked JoJo if she likes ‘girls or boys’.

Informed by JoJo that her ‘partner is non-binary’, Mickey claimed that she ‘won’t be gay anymore’ if he stays ‘longer than four days’.

Moments after JoJo told him she will ‘still be gay’ and will ‘still be in a very happy relationship’ when the show end, Mickey told Chris that he is ‘going to vote the lesbian out real quick’.

Overhearing the conversation, JoJo said Mickey’s comments were ‘homophobic’. The former Oscar nominee then said he ‘needed a *** [another name for a cigarette]’, before telling JoJo he wasn’t ‘talking’ to her.

Chris immediately told the 72-year-old that he ‘can’t say that’, which he already said to him after his initial comments.

Advising the actor to be careful with his words, Chris then gave JoJo a hug as she got overwhelmed by the situation.

JoJo thanked Chris for ‘having her back’, with the 32-year-old assuring her that it was okay to show emotions and be upset.

Following Big Brother issuing a formal warning to Mickey over his ‘offensive and unacceptable’ language, Chris once again stood up for JoJo.

“I understand you might have thought it would be uninsulting but it’s the way it’s perceived on other people. JoJo was very upset earlier, bless her,” he said.

Mickey eventually apologised to JoJo, who secretly put him up for Friday’s eviction through her killer nomination she received on Tuesday (April 7).

Those watching at home commended Chris for not being afraid to stand up to Mickey and expressed their joy at his and JoJo’s friendship.
