BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent sparked concern on Monday morning after she randomly left her co-star Jon Kay to present alone in the studio
On BBC Breakfast this Monday morning, viewers became concerned when Sally Nugent abruptly left her colleague Jon Kay in the studio alone.
During the 7.15 am broadcast, the pair were originally seated together on the iconic red sofa, but after a pre-recorded piece featuring a harrowing story aired, the cameras returned to an empty spot where Sally had been.
BBC correspondent Hayley Hassall instead accompanied Jon to delve deeper into the distressing narrative. The show went on with Jon presenting solo until Sally re-emerged on a video feed.
He announced: “Now, if you like, a jigsaw. The UK’s first Federation-approved puzzling championships took place over the weekend.
“People from across the world battling to complete 500-piece bottles as quickly as possible, and we have the champion with us in Salford this morning. Sally is with her,” reports the Express.

Sally connected from a library setting, engaging with Emma Quirke, the puzzle champion crowned in Bradford.
She said: “That’s right, we have got Emma Quirke with us this morning, who won in Bradford at the weekend by putting together a 500-piece puzzle in 41 minutes.
“We’re going to have more from Emma later in the show. First, though, we’ve set her another challenge another 500 piece puzzle awaits.
“It’s another 500 piece, and you should have time to do it. Tell me what is your strategy before I start.”
In response, Emma shared with Sally her approach of sorting the puzzle by colour before assembling it.
During an earlier segment, Sally experienced an on-air slip-up while discussing the Olivier Awards, which didn’t escape the viewers’ attention. She struggled to articulate her words and also incorrectly stated the number of awards won by Imelda Staunton.
A sharp-eyed viewer pointed out that Sally vanished from the screen, leaving Jon to continue hosting solo.
One worried viewer took to X to ask: “What is up with Sally Nugent on #BBCBreakfast today? She can barely get her words out and announced earlier that Alan Shearer had donated the “proceedings” from his testimonial to charity.”
Another viewer responded, “And now it looks like she’s done a runner.”
