Alejandro Garnacho has sent Mason Mount the perfect three-word response following the stalemate in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Mount enjoyed a substitute appearance for a second successive game for United after recently returning from injury. The midfielder replaced Manuel Ugarte in the 70th minute as he works to regain full fitness for the final weeks of the season.

Despite a positive cameo, Mount has been unfortunate with injuries since his arrival at Old Trafford, two years ago. Since joining United from Premier League rivals Chelsea for an initial £55million fee, with a further £5million due in add-ons, Mount has missed 30 matches due to injury.

Taking to Instagram after the game, the 26-year-old posted moments of the game along with the caption: “Plenty to take away. Big one Thursday.”

In response, Garnacho commented: “He is back,” followed by a fire emoji.

Elsewhere, Joshua Zirkzee, Andre Onana and Bruno Fernandes also shared messages on their own pages following the draw with City. Zirkzee, who took to Instagram stories, wrote: “Thank you Old Trafford! Big one on Thursday. Let’s go!!”

Reds captain Fernandes led the home side out at Old Trafford and was accompanied out of the tunnel by seven-year-old mascot Bobby Moore from Belfast.

“Leading the team out is always amazing but today Bobby made it even more incredible! His smile as we heard the noise of Old Trafford was something special,” the Portuguese wrote on a social media post.

Onana also shared some moments from the game with the caption: “Thank you for always being there, Reds. Now it’s time to focus on Europe.”

Speaking to the media after the game, Ruben Amorim admitted seeing improvements from the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest six days earlier. “At the moment, it’s still really hard, every day but you can imagine that next season is going to be so much different.

“That’s why I always say that I’m in a rush, because we are suffering a lot. Everybody here is suffering a lot with all these changes. We have to show something in the next year, right away.

“If not, I have a feeling that all this that is happening in this moment, we are not taking advantage. I think that is [an] important thing. In the good days, you think like that.

“It was important to come mid-season, to work with the players, to improve the players as soon as possible, to start the next season with a better idea of what we want.

“Today was that day that we played well. Of course, you can feel it in the game, it’s not there in the top, top level, the intensity, but you can also understand the context of both teams in this moment.”
