Predator: Killer of Killers

After not seeing much action for a while, the Predator franchise was suddenly revitalized by director Dan Trachtenberg, who had the brilliant idea to set the next movie in the past and have an Indigenous warrior be the subject of the next hunt. The result, Prey, was a big hit for 20th Century Studios, enough that they would regret releasing it directly to Hulu.

One thing’s clear now: 20th Century definitely wants Trachtenberg in the driver’s seat for all Predator projects going forward. A few months ago he announced he was working on two: the next feature, which this time would not skip out on a theatrical run, and something for Hulu….something animated.

Today was the day Hulu revealed what that is….it’s an anthology film called Predator: Killer of Killers. You want more Predator in the past? You got it…threefold. The CGI film tells three different stories across multiple eras: Japan during the time of ninjas, Scandinavia during the time of Vikings, and World War II during the time of air combat.

“The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause,” Hulu describes. “But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent — the ultimate killer of killers.”

Josh Wassung will serve as co-director of Predator: Killer of Killers, working from a script by Micho Robert Rutare based on an original story by Trachtenberg and Rutare. Producers on the project include John Davis, Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, and Ben Rosenblatt, with Lawrence Gordon, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Stefan Grube serving as executive producers.

Predator: Killer of Killers will be released to Hulu June 6.
