king of the hill

For a long time we’ve known a revival of King of the Hill was in the works at Hulu, we just didn’t know when it would show up. We’ve at last got a release window: that of this summer, which may not sound surprising, but it does mean KOTH and Futurama could be debuting new episodes at the same time. (Just like the old days, except football won’t be interrupting the latter!)

Details regarding the 14th season (Hulu is officially calling it that, they aren’t starting the number over) are still light. All we know is that it will take place after a time jump, with a grown-up Bobby Hill now working as a chef. We got an image of him last October, when voice actress Grey DeLisle was attending some kind of private event and snapped a picture of a plaque displaying an image of the older Bobby in a chef’s outfit. She deleted the post later, but the photo was out and has not been hard to find. However, none of the aged designs for the other characters have been revealed, intentionally or otherwise.

The release announcement was made within a press release about a King of the Hill reunion panel, set to take place at the ATX TV Festival in Austin. In attendance will be co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, showrunner Saladin K. Patterson, and voice actors Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom and Toby Huss. The panel takes place Friday, May 30, and that won’t be all.

“For Camp Badgeholders and invited guests, the panel will be followed by a backyard barbecue-style shindig where folks will feel like they’ve stepped into the Hill Family’s backyard in Arlen for the first time since the show’s finale in 2009,” says ATX. “The after-event will showcase food and drink from Texas favorites, local brands, exclusive King of the Hill themed photo opps and giveaways, backyard games, and great tunes. The event is presented by Hulu.” The barbecue will, of course, be heated by charcoal….just kidding, can you imagine?

King of the Hill returns this summer on Hulu.
