A new chapter in Tony DiTerlizzi’s groundbreaking sci-fi saga unfolds in Season 2 of WondLa, premiering on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 25. Ahead of the premiere, Animation Magazine is thrilled to debut an exclusive clip from an upcoming episode. The CG series is produced by Skydance Animation (Luck), based on DiTerlizzi’s New York Times bestselling The Search for WondLa books, with animation veteran Bobs Gannaway as showrunner and executive producer.
This futuristic coming-of-age story follows 16-year-old Eva 9 as her epic journey continues, and she uncovers startling truths about her past and the world she calls home. Picking up from season one’s shocking cliffhanger, Eva is drawn toward the promise of home — but new discoveries only lead to more unanswered questions. As she searches for the truth, Eva finds herself pursued by a relentless force that believes she holds the key to something far greater than she ever imagined — and must choose where she truly belongs.
Season 2 delivers seven all-new, adventure-packed half-hour episodes.
The new, exclusive clip is from Episode 6, in which the Cærulean Rovender’s (voiced by Gary Anthony Williams) village gets attacked by human war bots looking for the heart of the forest. Eva 9 (Jeanine Mason) defies Rovender’s wish of evacuating and instead attempts to lead the war bots away from the villagers while on Otto’s (Bad Garrett) back, with Hailey (new cast member John Kim). The decoys are cornered, and swiftly rescued by Rovender, beginning a chase and attempt to lure the war bots into the tar pits. In the clip, Rovender’s mount sacrifices itself to save Eva from the tar, and their hopes of escape hang on by nail-bitingly thin thread.
WondLa Season 2 also features the voices of Alan Tudyk as Cadmus Prime, Teri Hatcher as Eva’s caretaker and Ana Villafañe as Eva 8. The series is executive produced by Tony DiTerlizzi and Bobs Gannaway alongside Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Julie Kane-Ritsch, and Skydance Animation’s John Lasseter, David Ellison and Dana Goldberg, and produced by Tony Cosanella.
