Briarcliff Entertainment’s Sneaks is set to release theatrically in the U.S. next Friday, April 18.
Directed by Rob Edwards (screenwriter, Disney’s Treasure Planet, The Princess and the Frog) and Chris Jenkins (director, 10 Lives, Duck Duck Goose), Sneaks follows the adventures of Ty, a misguided designer sneaker who doesn’t know life outside the comforts of his velvet-lined shoebox and who must rescue his sister after she’s stolen by a shady shoe collector.
Below we have an exclusive clip from the film, featuring the voice of Chloe Bailey as Ty’s kidnapped sister Maxine. The clip explores a common theme in fandom: should objects be used and loved or kept in pristine condition to maintain their value. The twist here though is that the actual objects – shoes, in this instance — are having the discussion:
The PG-rated film, which marks the feature animation directorial debut of Edwards, was also written by him.
Voice cast includes Anthony Mackie, Martin Lawrence, Swae Lee, Chloe Bailey, Macy Gray, Ella Mai, Mustard, Roddy Rich, Quavo, Young Miko, Amirah Hall, Kiana Ledé, Bobbito Garcia, Sam Jay, Jonathan Kite, Amari McCoy, Donovan Louise Bazemore, Sky Brown Rayssa Leal, Rico Rodriguez, Will McCormack, Michael Govier, Andrew Hawkins Raoul the Dog, Keith David, Chris Paul, and Laurence Fishburne.
Pre-production, design, and storyboard work was done at Toronto’s House of Cool (Ferdinand), and the animation was produced at Mumbai’s Assemblage (Arctic Dogs, Netflix’s Wolf King).
