For those interested in the very earliest history of comic strips Antoine Sausverd has an announcement:

About a month ago, we set out to enlighten the “Early Comics” universe with a fair selection of David Kunzle’s legacy on the subject. Indeed, our “David Kunzle page” (DKP) wants to pay tribute to Kunzle as a pioneer in the research of early comics, and does so by sharing most articles and book chapters prof. Kunzle has written on the subject during almost half a century of research. After little more than a month, we’ve gathered 30+ (and counting) of these, which is appr. 75% of all materials identified so far.

Today, we can confirm that we have extended the DKP with two landmark publications indeed.

The Early Comic Strip/The Comic Strip-The Nineteenth Century by David Kunzle

Both Kunzle’s huge volumes on early comics have now been added to the available downloads! (see DKP’s book section) Henceforth, “The Early Comic Strip: Narrative Strips & Picture Stories in the European Broadsheet from c. 1450 to 1825” (1973) and “History of the comic strip. The nineteenth century” (1990), which we’d rather refer to as “Kunzle 1” (or K1) and “Kunzle 2” (K2) are just a click away.

Also on that page are articles available for download by David Kunzle originally for comic history journals.
