From the CinemaCon show floor, Walt Disney Studios kicked off its presentations with the debut of a new sneak peek clip from the live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch, coming to theaters on May 23. The “Water Fight” segment shows young Lilo (Maia Kealoha) and her new “dog” (vocalized by Lilo & Stitch original director Chris Sanders) get their burgeoning friendship off to a splashy start.

Lilo & Stitch is directed by award-winning filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), with a screenplay by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes. It also stars tars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Nani, Billy Magnussen as Pleakley, Tia Carrere as Mrs. Kekoa, Hannah Waddingham as Grand Councilwoman and the original film’s director Chris Sanders returning as the voice of Stitch, with Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles and Zach Galifianakis as Jumba.

The event also slipped in a new six-minute clip from Pixar’s Elio (in theaters June 20), which depicts the titular kid hero being abducted by aliens and introduced to the Communiverse, which has put him up as their new “candidate.” Elio meets an omniscient computer and meets his new alien bestie, Glordon. Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña came on stage to talk about her role as Aunt Olga in the film and introduce the new footage.

Directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi and Adrian Molina, and produced by Mary Alice Drumm, Elio features the voices of Yonas Kibreab as Elio, Remy Edgerly as Glordon, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa and Shirley Henderson as Ooooo.

Zootopia 2
Quinta Brunson voices the affable and adorable Dr. Fuzzby

Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan introduced two new clips from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia 2 (Nov. 26, 2025). The first shows new police partners Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) consulting Dr. Fuzzby, a police therapist quokka, played by newly revealed cast member Quinta Brunson.

The second clip follows the duo to “Marsh Market,” where they question a local resident and a sea lion as to the whereabouts of Gary De’Snake (voiced by Quan in the new movie), a venomous-but-lovable pit viper.

In the all-new story, Nick and Judy find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before. From the Oscar-winning team of Disney Animation CCO Jared Bush and Byron Howard (directors) and Yvett Merino (producer).

At the same time, Disney+ has debuted the official trailer for Not Just a Goof, a new documentary exploring the untold story of A Goofy Movie, which debuts on the streamer on April 7 timed to the 30th anniversary of the animated pic.

The documentary follows a young creative team tackling their first Disney feature, facing disappointment upon release, only for the film to gain a passionate following decades later. Through key interviews and rare archival footage, it explores the struggles, victories, and studio dynamics that shaped the movie. More than just a behind-the-scenes look, it highlights why A Goofy Movie remains a beloved gem for the generation that grew up watching it. This captivating retrospective sheds light on Disney Animation’s evolution and the film’s enduring legacy, making it a must-watch for Disney fans and 90s kids alike.

In other news emerging from the Mouse House today, the in-development live-action reimagining of Tangled has been shelved in the wake of Snow White‘s disappointing box office (just $70 million domestic two weeks into release), according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 2010 animated feature directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno made almost $600 million worldwide.

The remake had attached Michael Gracey (Better Man, The Greatest Showman) to direct and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Thor: Love & Thunder) for the script.
