Several thoughts:
— OK, so now this is the third Golden Age-size Facsimile Edition that DC will be publishing in a year’s time — Action Comics #1 (out today) and Detective Comics #27 being the others. Hardcore fans have long been asking for DC to do this with their GA editions and the company has clearly gotten the message. I still think most of the Golden Agers will be in current dimensions but I can see this continuing for issues that are particularly special. (Bring on Batman #1!)
— A comic’s current dimensions are typically 6-5/8″ x 10-3/16″. Golden Agers are generally 7-3/4” x 10-1/2”.
— Been a lot of Superman news this week, leading up to today’s Superman Day, which marks the 1938 release of Action Comics #1. Check out the links below.
— Don’t forget: Check out the other DC Facsimile Edition coming in July.
— Obligatory Price Comparison: You’re not likely to come across an unslabbed copy of Superman #1. But a slabbed, 7.0-graded copy (above) sold in 2024 for $2,340,000, including buyer’s premium.
