Day 25, our third zero day. We woke up this morning in our king sized cozy bed and it was pouring outside. We had heard on trail Mountain Harbour serves the best breakfast on trail. We came downstairs at 8 and Shannon and David had breakfast ready for us. We turned the corner after the stairs and saw this 5 star breakfast laid out, all for us (pinch me!!). The French toast melts in your mouth. I was so impressed, they even had real maple syrup. Everything served was a 10/10 and I certainly agree this is the best breakfast on the AT so far. I cannot fathom another breakfast on the AT would top this. My dad had work meetings all day. I chilled and did some blogging. Shannon was so kind to do our laundry. Siesta showed up in the early afternoon to the B&B and it was great to see him again. Shannon had lasagna and bread for my dad, Rowan, and I for dinner. There’s just something about a home cooked meal thru hiking. It was much appreciated. Shannon also had homemade cookies for us for dessert. We loved the B&B so much that we booked tomorrow night to stay as well. We plan to do 18 miles tomorrow and have David pick us up and shuttle us back.

On day 26 we ate another mighty and delicious breakfast at the B&B, got shuttled to the trail head and off we went. 18 glorious miles today, beautiful weather, the miles flew by. We walked through the stunning Roan Highlands. Big Hump and Little Hump Balds were our some of favorite views on trail yet. We met Flip and Flop, such a fun couple thru hiking! They are hiking sections SOBO working their way NOBO with their van and shuttling. We left NC for good today! Now gotta tackle Tennessee before getting into VA. At the end of the day we got picked up on Buck Mountain Road by Shannon from Mountain Harbour and got takeout for dinner from the Mexican Restaurant.

Day 27, another morning waking up in our beautiful room at Mountain Harbour. We have been spoiled here! I’ll take the glamping when I can. While yesterday felt like a breeze and flew by, today felt monotonous. Today was a 21 mile day and it felt a lot longer than yesterday. We had a goal to get to Black Bear Resort and were successful. Jeff and John picked us up when we finished today’s hike as the hostel was a little less than a mile from there. Jeff and John are two very generous men who are friends section hiking together. We ran into them at the Buck Mountain Road trailhead yesterday. They have been staying at Black Bear Resort. We arrived to Black Bear Resort, where we were greeted by Linda and the staff who were so welcoming We had the cutest little cabin next to the creek.  There was a toasty fire going. Jeff and John took us downtown for dinner at a Mexican Restaurant. We had a great dinner then returned, hung out by the fire a little longer and headed to bed. The cabin was so cozy, it had a heater and we turned it on 10 minutes before bed, shut it off and were plenty warm for the night.
