It was hot, fortunately Nurse Zuko had ointment close at hand while mine was deep in the pack.
Hill ascent followed by ridge walk and teaser rocks. The well at Ensign Cowell required scooping into our water bladders before filtering.
Day 5 to Raven Rock
With the threat of thunderstorms in the afternoon, and the temperature dropping from the 70s to 35, we thought it best to be at a real shelter by midafternoon. Indy caught up to us this day and he had started the day after us. We took advantage of the Little Antitam Creek and soaked our feet before ascending to Raven Rock.
We arrived midafternoon as expected, and the spring was very downhill. Since it was hot, we carried our CNOC water bladders back up the hill, cooling them on our faces, neck, and bodies, declaring our devotion to our “water babies”.
The thunderstorms arrived later on the next ridge, and after supper for our spot. The temps didn’t seem to change until we woke up the next morning, and needed gloves to perform all the camp chores.
